I spend a lot of time online, but I still read a lot of books. Here are a few I’ve read recently and liked.
Baby 411 — by Dr. Ari Brown and Denise Fields. You knew there had to be a baby book in here, right? Dr. Brown is going to be our pediatrician so I figured I’d read her book. I mean, it was easy enough to get pregnant, but as someone who didn’t change a diaper until college, I am going to need a little help figuring out what to do once the little bugger gets here. This book has common sense stuff I wouldn’t think of. Like, you should give your kid Pedialyte if they are nauseated and subsequently dehydrated. But avoid the flavored, colored versions. Why? Because you don’t want a kid who is puking every half hour drinking a purple beverage. It’s THAT kind of info that’s really useful.
Thunderstruck – by Erik Larson. This is a really cool book. Larson likes to take true stories and write them as if you were reading a novel. This one combines the events leading up to the creation of the wireless radio and a sensational murder story that was headline news at the turn of the century.
Dixieland Delight: A Football Season on the Road in the Southeastern Conference — by Clay Travis. This isn’t something I’d normally pick up, but Mason read it and since I like SEC football as much as the next girl, I gave it a shot. Travis (a sports columnist) went to a game at every SEC stadium during a recent season and documented his travels. Much of the book is hilarious.
