Neil Diamond night

So I really love Neil Diamond. Mason laughs at me, but whatever. We were both confused when Feist was on The Colbert Report the other night (I believe he asked, “What’s a Feist?”). We’ve established that my musical taste is the same as my parents’.

Anyway, I was super excited when I heard that ND was going to be an American Idol mentor, but I don’t feel like anyone did a really great job. And what is the deal with David Archuleta? I feel like the whole world is in on some secret without me. I don’t get him at all. He has no personality, no stage presence, an ok voice, and always picks weird songs (Coming to America? Really?), and yet somehow, the judges praise him to the heavens and everyone votes for him. Maybe I just don’t get the average American Idol voter.

UPDATE to below story

Apparently the Yale student was lying and considers the whole thing “performance art,” although I’m still kind of confused by the story. You know it’s a doozy when both pro- and anti-abortion groups agree:

Ted Miller, a spokesman for NARAL Pro-Choice America, called the concept offensive and “not a constructive addition to the debate over reproductive rights.”

Peter Wolfgang, executive director of the Family Institute of Connecticut, an anti-abortion group, said his anger was not mitigated by the fact that Shvarts was never pregnant.

“I’m astounded by this woman’s callousness,” he said. “There are thousands of women in this country who are dealing with the pain of having had an abortion, with the trauma of having suffered a miscarriage. For her to make light of that for her own purposes is just beyond words.”

EDIT: This MSNBC story is better than the one above.

I’ve never thought that people were naturally good. If they were, we wouldn’t spend so much time teaching toddlers discipline and right from wrong. But this story brings my opinion of some members of the human race to a new low. I’m not going to put a synopsis here as I don’t want people finding my site using certain keywords. But it is quite disturbing, so be warned. Let’s just say that someone is showing a complete and utter lack of regard for human life, in the name of art.
